About Kate

Kate is one-half of Lively Running, an Oak Park native, and an avid runner. As of May 2014, she has completed seven marathons since her first one in 2010, the most recent being the Boston Marathon, and she is always in training for the next 26.2. She currently lives in the South Loop neighborhood of Chicago with her husband and their pug, Lola Granola, although they plan on moving to Oak Park soon. While running is her No. 1 passion, she also enjoys Pilates, yoga, hiking, relaxed bike rides (none of this Iron Man stuff — yet), and crossword puzzles.

Kate is also an RRCA-certified coach, and her mission in life is to set other women up for success in athletics, no matter their goals or current level of fitness. She and Anne have created Lively Running as an inclusive space for female athletes of all abilities, as they believe strongly in the powerful, life-changing communities that running can foster.

About Anne

Anne is the other half of Lively and an Oak Park native raising her two children here with her husband, Pete, and dog, Nutmeg. Her background in biology and research has instilled in her a desire to develop best-practice recommendations in running and fitness; she believes in evidence first and foremost, and the gear and apparel selection at Lively reflects that. Anne is an RRCA-certified running coach and weight-lifting enthusiast. She’s completed a triathlon, several half-marathons, and countless 5Ks and 10Ks. As the creative force behind the decor of Lively, she spends countless hours on Pinterest. Follow her picks there at
